All eyes are set on UFC 287 as fans will find further developments in the rivalry between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. Pereira, the current UFC middleweight champion has defeated ‘The Last Stylebender’ a total of 3 times. Twice being outside the UFC and once at UFC 281.

While both fighters have to cut weight to make 185, Alex has to cut substantially more weight. With his huge frame as pointed out by many it is only fair to question how much weight he cuts and what is Poatan’s actual weight.

In his recent fight against Adesanya, Alex Pereira had to remove his trunks to make 185 lbs. The weight difference between many fighters on the scale and while entering the octagon is vast. While this is common for fighters in the UFC, the news after Pereira’s weight cut was not. In merely 24 hours after the fight, Poatan had already gained a huge 25 pounds.

He was a staggering 219 pounds while in the Octagon which is almost the same as light-heavyweights. Pereira walks around at 233 lbs which is a lot compared to Israel Adesanya who walks around at 203 lbs. This is mainly attributed to Pereira’s huge frame as he stands tall at 6’4. If Alex Periera defeats Adesanya at UFC 287 a move up to light heavyweight or heavyweight is to be expected from Periera.

Alex Pereira’s Staggering frame as he towers over many Light-heavyweights

The UFC middleweight division has become exciting once again. All this is because of one person, Alex Pereira. The division needed a shake-up as Israel Adesanya had cleaned the division and started lapping up.

However, all of this changed when we witnessed a blast from Izzy’s past. The Brazilian came, saw, and conquered the division by defeating Adesanya at UFC 281. No wonder Alex is a big guy but his size is absolutely astonishing as he towers over some of the light heavyweights.

Alex Pereira is a big man fighting in the middleweight division. According to Robert Whittaker, who’s already fought Adesanya twice, he’s even bigger than Izzy. However, fans were dumbstruck when they saw Alex looking bigger than Dominick Reyes in an Instagram photo. Reyes is a legit Light heavyweight contender.

In the photo beside Reyes, Pereira is at 226 pounds. The weight cuts faced by the Brazilian must really be tough compared to Adesanya as he has a smaller frame with less walk-around weight. However, all this comes to Poatan’s advantage when he fights in the octagon.

Moving up weight classes to be expected from Periera after UFC 287

Alex Pereira’s rise to becoming the middleweight champion has been rapid. After only three fights in the UFC, he was presented with the opportunity to fight for the title. Poatan’s previous fighting record and his wins over former Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya outside UFC helped as well.

With a total of 3 wins over the current middleweight champion, Pereira is set to rematch Adesanya at UFC 287. But, this does not stop here as plans of Alex moving up have been speculated by his coach and former UFC light-heavyweight champion, Glover Texeira.
