Idaho Representative Sue Chew, one of Idaho's longest-serving representatives, has passed away.

Governor Little has ordered that flags be flown at half staff in memory of Chew, who represented District 17 for 18 years.

House Democratic Leader Ilana Rubel says "I am so grateful to have known and served with Representative Chew. She was motivated by pure love and a desire to help those who most needed an advocate. People who otherwise felt they had no voice in the corridors of power knew they had a voice in Sue."

Chew was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late 2023, according to a statement from Idaho House and Senate Democrats. She passed away on April 17, 2024, surrounded by friends, the statement says.
