MOSCOW, Idaho — The University of Idaho now owns the property on King Road, where four students were murdered. The original owner gave it to the school.
Prosecutors say Bryan Kohberger killed them on Nov. 13, 2022. Since that time, the grey home in Moscow has served as a reminder of the deaths of Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves. However, crews demolished it and took it down carefully.
"Having the house come down is just that next step in healing. We're certainly never going to forget. We're certainly going to keep those students and their families in our hearts and prayers," University of Idaho Executive Director of Communications Jodi Walker said.
After clearing the home debris, crews will grade the property and plant grass. Soon, a student-designed memorial will be built on campus to honor the lives of the four victims.
Not everyone wanted the home torn down yet. Some wanted jury members to see it, but that did not happen. The defense and prosecution visited the house in the weeks leading to Christmas.
As for suspect Bryan Kohberger, a trial date has not yet been set.
